I can’t speak for everyone, but I know these 4 things have held back both myself and those we work with.

This past year has kicked everyone’s rear end. Eventually, we all get to a breaking point that we want to start trying to feel good again. But what do you do when you’re trying your best, and you still feel like garbage?

1 - Working Outside Your Capacity

Working harder isn’t always the right answer. If you don’t spend enough time building an aerobic base, all the intense strength and conditioning workouts will come back to bite you. Protocols will be different for everyone, but start by spending time working in a 60-80% of your max heart rate zone (Blue and Green Zones on MyZone) and talk to coach before you assume you’re ready to get into more intense protocols.

2 - Not Eating Enough

Every single person I’ve ever worked with under eats for a big portion of their week. If you’re constantly eating too little, you’re adding stress to your system and not giving your body the energy it needs to function properly. If you want to drop fat, find out what your actual maintenance calories are (InBody can help you figure this out) and work your way up to eating there first. You’ll thank me later.

3 – Not Getting Enough Sleep

Most of us do not get enough sleep. On average we should strive to get 7-8 hours of good quality sleep a night. Women typically need more. Sleep helps our bodies regulate hormones that control everything our body does. If you are not getting enough sleep these hormones will be all over the place and your body will not react to training and nutrition the way you expect it to.

4 - STRESS!

Even if you take it in stride, stress still wreaks havoc on your body. If you’re like me and you’re arrogant enough to think you can handle whatever life throws at you, then invest in tools that can keep your ego in check. Keeping track of my sleep, resting heart rate and heart rate variability with a Fitbit (or other wearable tech) has allowed me to find out how much I had to scale back life and training.

So, as we are preparing for spring, it is a great time to analyze these 4 thingsof your life and formulate a plan to help get them in balance. If you would like to see how Body Force can help you, schedule a Free Consultation.
